Schwab Wealth & Asset Management Engineering (WAME) Technology operates within Schwab Technology Services (STS), where we support comprehensive platforms in Research, Investment Management, and Trading.   • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on financial application enhancements, addressing issues, and answering queries related to Portfolio Optimization and performance attribution.
  • Conduct comprehensive requirements-gathering meetings with users, developers, system architects, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with Agile team members to create requirement stories, user acceptance test scripts, release notes, and related project artifacts.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing among vendors, business teams, and the WAM technology team.
  • Ensure successful delivery of system solutions to all business stakeholders.
  • Support and maintain vendor applications and in-house systems with in-depth data analysis, as necessary.
  • Acquire comprehensive business knowledge to effectively represent the business community in developing technical solutions that align with business strategies.
  • Adapt to evolving priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Utilize visualization software such as Visio or Lucid Chart to create workflow flowcharts.
  • Possess strong knowledge of web services and API specifications, translating business requirements into Agile stories in tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with collaborative tools such as Jira and Confluence.

What you have

  • Extensive experience in financial asset management, specifically in equity trading, portfolio management, operations, and accounting.
  • Subject matter expertise with optimizers, particularly Axioma and Gurobi.
  • Experience with IBOR systems, preferably Vestmark.
  • Strong ability to manage and communicate changing priorities and deadlines within a matrixed organization, supporting multiple stakeholders in trading, portfolio management, compliance, and risk.
  • Proven capacity to analyze and provide technology recommendations to businesses.
  • Experience in the systems development life cycle, including defining specifications, collaborating with developers to design solutions, testing completed code, and ensuring smooth implementation with business partners.
  • Confidence in presenting both strategic and tactical visions for project planning and daily management goals.
  • Desire to engage with both in-house developed systems and third-party vendor products.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Education: BA/BS in finance, computer science, or a related field. CFA Foundation or CFA certification is also preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience as an IT business systems analyst or as a business analyst looking to transition to technology.
  • Preferred Proficiencies: Experience in component-based development (integrating vendor products with in-house code); strong data analysis skills; experience in an agile development environment.
