About the position

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and verify accounting, financial, and statistical records.
  • Gather, assemble, tabulate, enter, check, verify, balance, adjust, record, and file financial data.
  • Review information to ensure accurate reporting and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist staff in the preparation of reports and recommendations by organizing data.
  • Balance and reconcile daily cash receipts and analyze accounts for accuracy.
  • Process and update license applications, providing information on fees and regulations.
  • Receive, open, time stamp, sort, and distribute incoming and interdepartmental mail.
  • Assist with document processing, file management, and research.
  • Organize and maintain various administrative and reference files according to retention policies.
  • Utilize computer programs to enter and maintain data, generate reports, and create documents.
  • Answer questions and provide information to staff and the public in a courteous manner.
  • Locate and contact customers for revenue collections and verify payment plans.
  • Provide backup support for collections office and other accounting functions as required.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Two years of responsible clerical and routine cashiering experience.
  • Knowledge of basic cashiering, clerical, and collection procedures.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a public service environment.
  • Familiarity with local laws, codes, and regulations.
