Compensation

  • Base ($8-10/hr) + Tips (can avg $6/hr or more based on historical figures)

Position Summary

The Barista plays a key role in creating a warm and welcoming experience for every guest. This team member prepares and serves espresso-based drinks, coffees, teas, and specialty beverages while assisting with bakery operations, including serving kolaches and other baked goods. The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and passionate about great customer service and high-quality coffee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional service in a fast-paced bakery environment.
  • Prepare and serve all coffee and espresso beverages according to company recipes and quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
  • Take customer orders accurately at the counter or drive-thru (if applicable).
  • Handle bakery items such as kolaches, pastries, and breakfast items—packaging, reheating, and presenting them properly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station, bakery display, and dining areas.
  • Restock supplies, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and bakery products throughout the shift.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling, cleaning, and equipment checks.
  • Support other team members to ensure smooth and efficient store operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a barista or in food service preferred but not required (training provided).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a busy environment and maintain attention to detail.
  • Basic math and cash-handling skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Early morning shifts (bakery opens early).
  • Must be available weekends and some holidays.
  • Friendly, small-team environment focused on quality and community.

This position operates in a bakery and café setting, requiring constant interaction with customers and staff. The environment may involve exposure to warm temperatures and bakery aromas. Professional appearance and adherence to company uniform and grooming standards are required.
