Irradiation Operator

Shift Options

• 1st Shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM | $22.00/hour
• 3rd Shift: 10:45 PM – 7:15 AM | $23.00/hour ($1.00 shift differential)

Position Summary

The Irradiation Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring irradiation equipment used to process tubing products. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and monitor irradiation machinery according to shop orders and work instructions.
• Set up and adjust equipment settings such as voltage, speed, and handling parameters based on product specifications.
• Accurately record irradiation dosage information to ensure proper exposure levels for different materials and sizes.
• Perform visual and mechanical inspections of machine threading and operation to prevent defects.
• Identify equipment or material issues and coordinate with the QA department for inspection of questionable materials.
• Communicate discrepancies, defects, or unusual conditions to manufacturing and QA teams using proper documentation and labeling procedures.
• Maintain detailed logs of equipment performance, operational hours, and production data to support audits and maintenance schedules.
• Follow all safety protocols and utilize required safety guards and PPE during machine operation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and interpret shop orders, work instructions, and production schedules.
• Basic math skills, including measuring inside diameter, wall thickness, and length.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand machine operation and troubleshooting.
• Electrical system knowledge is a plus but not required.
• Ability to bend, twist, and lift 50–75 pounds as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
