Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in Texas or compact state (required for Texas nursing jobs)

BLS certification (AHA only)

ACLS certification (AHA only)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, or similar clinical nursing specialty preferred

Completion of New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire

Successful competency validation and annual verifications

Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care to cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)

Administer medications and treatments per clinical protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness

Accurately document patient history, symptoms, medications, and nursing care provided

Assess and address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families

Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans, discharge instructions, and available healthcare resources

Delegate and assign tasks to clinical support staff to ensure effective patient management

Participate in ongoing competency and skills validation for nursing professionals

Work every other weekend; on-call only with low census (limited to once every 2 weeks)
