Accountant / Bookkeeper
Hill Country Church
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, providing ministry leaders with financial reports, and supporting the faithful stewardship of church resources.
Duties
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks.
- Record contributions, tithes, offerings, and donations in accordance with church policy
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for church leadership.
- Prepare and File Tax Reports-Monthly, Quarterly, Annually
- Run Payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including reimbursements and vendor payments.
- Ensure compliance with IRS and 501(c)(3) nonprofit regulations.
- Assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling all financial information.
- Follow accounting policies and help update them as needed.
Qualifications
- Accounting Degree or equivalent
- Fund Accounting Experience, ideally within non-profit sectors.
- Proficient in QuickBooks, particularly in the use of Classes
- Computer Competency: Microsoft 365, Church Management Apps
- Demonstrated ability in balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, account analysis, and account reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles, including debits & credits and journal entries.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable management, payroll processing, and tax preparation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with financial concepts such as budgeting, financial report writing, and technical accounting practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to perform 10-key typing accurately under time constraints.
- Effective communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating across teams.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20,000.00 - $25,000.00 per year
