Educational and Career Counselor
Joint Technology Solution, Inc.JTS is seeking a Educational and Career Counselor who provides comprehensive educational and vocational counseling services to Veterans referred by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role supports Veterans in identifying career and educational goals, overcoming barriers, and developing actionable plans to achieve successful employment or education outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive educational and vocational assessments, including review of educational history, work experience, interests, aptitudes, abilities, and transferable skills.
- Provide individualized educational and career counseling to assist Veterans in identifying realistic and attainable career and/or educational goals.
- Develop, maintain, and update Personalized Development Plans (PDPs) in collaboration with Veterans.
- Provide employment services, including labor market analysis, résumé development, mock interviews, and employment referrals.
- Provide education services, including identification of suitable training or educational institutions, admissions guidance, and review of applicable VA education benefits.
- Identify barriers to employment or education goals and collaborate with Veterans to develop strategies to overcome those barriers.
- Provide transition assistance and adjustment counseling, as needed, to address stressors or other issues affecting participation in education or career planning.
- Navigate and coordinate applicable VA benefits and resources in support of Veteran goals.
- Conduct counseling sessions in person (and/or as otherwise authorized by the contract) and manage scheduling in accordance with contract requirements.
- Prepare accurate, timely, and complete written reports.
- Provide Veterans with working copies of their PDP within required timeframes following counseling sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect Veteran information in accordance with applicable federal, VA, and contract privacy requirements.
- Participate in training, quality assurance activities, and program reviews as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Career Guidance and Planning, Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Adult Education, Educational Program Administration, or a closely related field; or A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of demonstrated professional experience in career counseling, vocational rehabilitation, workforce development, education advising, or a closely related field.

- Ability to conduct structured assessments and translate findings into actionable plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and provide trauma-informed services.
- Proficiency with case management systems, report templates, and electronic communication tools.
- Ability to manage multiple cases while meeting strict documentation and reporting timelines.
- Must be able to comply with all background checks, credentialing, and onboarding requirements established by the VA and the Contractor.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Pay: From $41,000.00 per year
