Software Engineer - Backend Developer

Salary: $76,000 - 97,000 per year

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
• Over 5 years of experience in embedded software development
• Proficient in C and C++ for embedded systems
• Strong grasp of object-oriented design principles
• Familiarity with version control systems (preferably Git)
• Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities
• Excellent documentation and organizational abilities
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Proficient with office productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft 365)
• Experience with Python or scripting for test automation (preferred)
• Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Modbus, GPIB, Ethernet) (preferred)
• Understanding of signal processing or control systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded software for both new and existing products
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, mechanical, test, and production) to deliver high-quality, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions
• Follow company quality standards and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Agile practices
• Provide updates on project status, risks, and delays to the Director of Engineering
• Analyze product requirements and propose scalable and maintainable software architectures
• Estimate development efforts and resources for software tasks
• Mentor junior engineers and engage in code reviews and design discussions
• Stay updated on emerging technologies related to embedded systems and instrumentation
• Maintain and enhance existing legacy software systems
• Document software designs and changes, and manage version control using Git
• Interact with customers and internal stakeholders to gather feedback and resolve issues
• Track time and effort across various projects and tasks
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engineering
