Recycling / Waste Management Worker II

This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining Texas State's recycling program by pick-up of recyclable material campus wide.

Job duties include

• Running recycling routes
• Pick-up of recyclable material on campus including emergency pick-ups
• Processing of recyclable material collected on campus
• Working special events
• Training student / temporary employees on recycling routes and use of equipment
• Tracking labor log hours for self and crew
• Maintaining equipment and vehicles that are used on a daily basis
• Ensuring attendance of all required University training
• Supporting and assisting recycling and waste management coordinator in program operations
• Performing other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

• Prior experience navigating assigned routes and managing multiple pick-up locations
• Knowledge in operating compactors and forklifts
• Ability to read, interpret and understand work orders
• Ability to lift 40 pounds alone and 80 pounds with help

• Ability to establish and build a rapport with a variety of people
• Monitoring equipment and vehicles
• Critical thinking skills to solve problems and make processes more efficient
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals

Normal work days are Monday through Friday with work hours from 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The job is full-time and permanent with a monthly salary of $2,833.00. The position is non-exempt.
