This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining Texas State's recycling program by pick-up of recyclable material campus wide.
Job duties include
- Running recycling routes
- Pick-up of recyclable material on campus including emergency pick-ups
- Processing of recyclable material collected on campus
- Working special events
- Training student / temporary employees on recycling routes and use of equipment
- Tracking labor log hours for self and crew
- Maintaining equipment and vehicles that are used on a daily basis
- Ensuring attendance of all required University training
- Supporting and assisting recycling and waste management coordinator in program operations
- Performing other duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- Prior experience navigating assigned routes and managing multiple pick-up locations
- Knowledge in operating compactors and forklifts
- Ability to read, interpret and understand work orders
- Ability to lift 40 pounds alone and 80 pounds with help
Preferred qualifications
- Ability to establish and build a rapport with a variety of people
- Monitoring equipment and vehicles
- Critical thinking skills to solve problems and make processes more efficient
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals
Normal work days are Monday through Friday with work hours from 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The job is full-time and permanent with a monthly salary of $2,833.00. The position is non-exempt.
