Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  • Possess EPA Section 608 certification or be able to obtain one within 60 days.
  • Experience in HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Understand mechanical concepts
  • Ability to perform basic math & use trade-specific tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years HVAC experience
  • Previous experience in higher education or government
  • Experience with AiM (Assetworks) Integrated Work Management System

Job Description

Oversee and ensure the maintenance of appropriate heating and cooling levels in university buildings.

Job Duties

  • Perform building equipment checks. Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, as assigned.
  • Recognize issues while working in buildings. Communicate issues to the Head HVAC Mech and shop supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Oversee vacuum pumps and air compressor oil levels.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic and electric controls.
  • Repair refrigeration equipment, ice machines, and water fountains.
  • Replace burnt-out compressors.
  • Install various equipment and materials such as PVC, steel pipe, ductwork, etc.
  • Operate refrigerant recovery equipment.
  • Replace and repair electric motors and steam and chill water valves.
  • Test various electrical components and read schematics.
  • Assist in chiller repairs and overhauls.
  • Complete work orders and log sheets. Use work order software as intended in real time, update status as needed, record accurate notes.
  • Complies with all state and university policies.
  • Works various schedules and is required to be on call.
  • Required to carry a cell phone.
  • Operate and maintain cleanliness of university vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
