Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Associate’s degree in early childhood or closely related field or current Child Development Associate (CDA) with 3 years full time (or equivalent) paid or voluntary experience in an early childhood group setting working with infants.
- A current CDA certificate or Associate degree transcript must be attached.
- Must be physically able to interact with children in a manner that meets their needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education or a closely related field with 12+ credit hours in early education and/or development with 1 year full time (or equivalent) paid or voluntary experience in an early childhood group setting working with infants. If the degree is in a related field, a transcript showing early childhood development coursework is required.
- Experience working in university laboratory setting for young children.
- Experience working in an accredited program. Experience working with a diverse population.
- Experience working with children with special needs.
Job Description
Responsible for providing quality childcare by planning, developing and implementing a developmental program for children.
Job Duties
- Classroom Duties- Plans and implements curriculum according to developmentally appropriate practices and understand the principles of responsive caregiving. Develops a well-articulated philosophy regarding child learning, social-emotional development, and positive guidance.
- Curriculum: Develops and implements emergent and anti-bias curriculum daily with integrated interest/learning areas.
- Assessment: Performs observations, records anecdotal notes, and to takes photographs and videos of child development in classroom to be used in coordination with assessment tool for intentional planning and reporting.
- Inclusive program: Enrolled children come from a variety of backgrounds, family structures, languages, abilities, and special needs. Fully includes children into classrooms with a variety of developmental needs creating a strong classroom community. Demonstrates best practice in a model early childhood learning environment. Follows classroom routine based on curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices. Establishes individual and group goals in coordination with families. Completes family conferences and shares progress reports three times per year.
- Lab Students: Mentors university students by guiding, supporting, and describing appropriate behaviors and effective practices to students connecting theory to practice. Supervises indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety.
- Student Workers: Directs student employees to assist with supervising indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety. Follow policies regarding conducting research to assist faculty/students with data collection. Maintains a respectful, supportive, and professional demeanor and contributes to an inviting and supportive work environment. Administers first aid and compassionate care to children as needed. Completes required training and education hours. Maintains required credentials.
