The starting salary for new Border Patrol Officers ranges from $63,148 to $120,145 annually, depending on experience and grade level (GL-9/GS-11). Additional locality pay and overtime options can significantly increase your earning potential.

Necessary Qualifications

For GL-9 Level: Candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, relevant to law enforcement duties.

For GS-11 Level: Candidates must demonstrate one year of specialized experience in law enforcement, showcasing the complex skills necessary for criminal investigation and enforcement.

All applicants must be U.S. citizens, meet minimum residency requirements, and adhere to age restrictions for law enforcement positions. Additionally, military or federal service may affect age qualifications.

Training Program: Upon selection, you will undergo six months of rigorous training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico. This program includes instruction in law enforcement protocols, driver training, and proficiency in both English and Spanish.
