Pharmacy Manager at Walgreens

Provides compassionate pharmacy consultation to patients about safe medication use and drug interactions. Delivers preventive health services such as vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and ongoing patient support. Ensures all medications are accurately compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified according to guidelines and company protocols.

Strengthens pharmacy workflow with a strong focus on financial results, efficient inventory management, and an outstanding patient experience. Supervises pharmacy team performance, supporting staff development through ongoing training, coaching, and performance management.

Key Duties

Patient Experience

  • Greets patients and offers assistance with products and services for a positive visit
  • Shares customer service best practices to encourage inclusive and engaging interactions
  • Proactively anticipates patient needs, offering consultations and medication management
  • Participates in community events as needed

Operations

  • Advises patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and cost-saving options
  • Handles compounding, drug reviews, and medication management
  • Oversees pharmacy compliance and workflow, managing staff assignments
  • Maintains Good Faith Dispensing policy when verifying prescriptions
  • Identifies new business opportunities with management
  • Supports pharmacy technology and implements productivity improvements
  • Processes insurance claims and resolves related issues
  • Delivers clinical services like immunizations and diagnostic testing
  • Collaborates with centralized support for registration and issue resolution
  • Maintains pharmacy appearance and functionality
  • Prepares and submits all necessary records as required by law

People & Performance Management

  • Assists with hiring, disciplinary actions, and legal compliance
  • Aligns team goals, recognizes achievements, and leads training efforts
  • Identifies and develops high-potential team members
  • Resolves employee concerns to maintain a positive work climate

Training & Personal Development

  • Maintains all required licenses and certifications
  • Continually learns about pharmacy and retail best practices
  • Completes annual training and seeks professional development opportunities

Communications

  • Shares corporate health and wellness information with the team

Business Performance Management

  • Analyzes service and financial data, protects assets, manages inventory
  • Identifies trends and drives improvements in pharmacy performance

Business Planning

  • Builds strong relationships with the medical community to grow the pharmacy business
  • Promotes health and wellness awareness within the community

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution
  • Current pharmacist license in the relevant area
  • Certified Immunizer or willingness to certify within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience, including prescription filling, compliance, and insurance billing
  • Familiarity with state and federal controlled substance laws
  • Strong leadership skills with positive recent performance reviews

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation

Pharmacy Manager salary ranges from $5,565 to $6,119 bi-weekly ($12,058–$13,258 per month).
